Earl Soham Bowls Club

There has been a Lawn Bowls Club in Earl Soham since the latter part of the 18th century and the Club has occupied its present site in The Street for many years. It provides the opportunity for people from Earl Soham and the surrounding villages to enjoy playing bowls both competitively and socially.

The Club is affiliated to the English Bowling Federation and is one of the smaller clubs who participate in both the Saxmundham League (Division II) and the League's Bob Wright Shield. The fixture list during the season, May to September, involves playing members in two and sometimes three evening matches a week, either home or away. Throughout the season Saturday afternoon sessions for practice and social play are held and Club Competitions and friendly matches are also arranged.

The second Saturday in September is a big day for the Club when we host our Annual Tournament and players from a wide area participate. This event has, for the past three years, been sponsored by a local company, Longstaff Transport and Mini Digger Hire, Suppliers of all Aggregates and Equestrian Surfaces.

New members and, in particular, beginners are always welcome. For more information about the Club, and how to join, please contact the Secretary, Mrs Pam Sykes, Tel: (01728) 685519 or e-mail: pamrog@sykes5.freeserve.co.uk.
